WTF?

I think I need to go back to meditating.  Divorce finalised 15 months ago, ex-husband married my friend13 months ago (yes, you read that right), two rounds of pneumonia in the past twelve weeks, my gran died three weeks ago, my friend lost her baby on Saturday (at 19 weeks), and now breast cancer has stuck close to home.

The worst of it is I can't even go and help.  She lives across the other side of the world, has a loving husband and two beautiful daughters.  She can't leave them, and I can't leave my two young boys, or my job that pays the mortgage, and the school fees, and the bills because if I don't...then who?  And I want to see her desperately.  I want to give her a huge bear-hug and tell her it will be okay.  That we'll get through this.  That I'll help her beat it.  That she's a fighter and those fucking stats have to apply to someone - that's why they're called SURVIVOR rates.

Fuck.

hmmm...

Okay, I've now reached new levels of commitment-phobia, 'cuz before I spend 1/2 hour typing away to inadvertently nuke this, I'm going to .....TEST?

my god, it has been a long time....the boys (Pickle and Peanut) are growing like weeds, my marriage is basically on the rocks (let's be honest, three rounds of counselling (different counsellors each time) culminating in hubster yelling at me that I've "once again" poisoned the counsellor against him because (yet again) the counsellor is telling him he is verbally abusing me - I walked away wondering when he was gonna get it, then was struck with the thought, "When am I gonna get it?"), started a new job last August which is insanely busy...gonna keep my entries short in the hopes that at the very least I'll be back here more often and not feel crushed by the weight of yet another self-imposed obligation....

i just spent a freakin' hour typing on Pissing Contests, Insurrection, Stealth Manoeuvres, and Endangerment and when I spell checked I LOST IT ALL - FUCK FUCK FUCK.  Can't do it again.

This or That Tuesday (thanks flyingbutter!)

1. File taxes as early as possible, or wait until the last possible minute?  Last possible minute - on the bizarre belief that if the government owes me money it's kind of a way of not spending it until I really know what I want to do with it?!!!

2. File electronically, or mail paper forms? ELECTRONIC!

3. Prepare your own taxes, or have someone do it for you?  Up until four years ago I did it myself now I let someone else scrape the peanut butter off my TD-4s (canadian form)!

4. Are you a saver or a spender?  Full-on squirrel!  I have little bits of money tucked in different little accounts, retirement savings plans, and various other weird places, should I die, they'll never find it all!

5. Do you prefer to carry cash, or pay with plastic (credit/debit cards), or by check?  Debit cards - why spend a penny more than you have to?

6. You're broke and desperately need a job, but the only places that are hiring are retail or fast food places. Which would you pick?  Retail - at least then I'd get an employee discount on clothes.

7. Keeping track of your money: are you more meticulous or careless about it?  CARELESS - yeah, I know this doesn't go with #4, but I tend to squirrel it away and forget about it in an effort not to spend it...

8. What do you do if you find yourself with a lot of change weighing down your purse/pocket/wallet? Do you try to spend it to *get rid of it*, or do you put it in a jar or a piggy bank?  Jar - I have enough pennies to bury my 4 year old up to his ankles in his turtle wading pool!!!

9. Which form of fake money do you like better...Monopoly money or those chocolate coins covered with gold foil?  Option #3 - CANADIAN TIRE MONEY - feels like the real thing (and would you believe certain members of our National Hockey League got busted tipping professional women in New York with it?!!!!)!

10. Thought-provoking question of the week: You find a wallet containing $5,000 in cash, as well as several credit cards and the owner's drivers' license. Your rent is due tomorrow and you're short $200. Do you take the money (some or all of it) and mail back the wallet anonymously...or do you return the wallet with all contents intact? Nope, I don't take the money, I return it, but I must admit I'd do it in person kind of hoping the recipient would be sooo happy they'd give me a reward of at least $200 (but I wouldn't hint either).  I'm all about good karma.

Next installment?  The perils of installing stealth monitoring software on your computer...howzat for a hook?!!!
